Not far from Wentworth is the Ramon Deed Veterans Retreat at Dareton, where we have stayed before, and is still a great spot for a couple days to unwind with easy access to Mildura. Oddly enough it was actually warmer here than anywhere we had been for weeks. Imagine coming back to Victoria to warm up. That didn't last long as our next and final stop before turning for home is back at Koondrook, and it was freezing.

Well all good things must come to an end, and we have arrived back home all in one piece, safe and sound. A truly great trip. What a magnificent country we live in.

It has been fun for us and I hope the blog hasn't been too boring. The blog has received nearly 1200  hits to date, a lot more than I ever imagined, with some even coming from the USA.

Our vehicle is a 2014 Mitsubishi Triton double cab Utility (pick up), it performed brilliantly with one minor hiccup at Broome where a power steering line worked loose, I was able to find this and and tighten it back up and proceed on. The caravan is 1982 Jayco Songbird, which we had done up ourselves before we left, it has been adequate for the trip and being small is very easy to tow, like a small trailer actually.

I notice our map book of Oz is still open at the Flinders Ranges page
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

After Wilmington we stopped for lunch at Peterborough on the way to Morgan for an overnight stay at  a nice Caravan park by the Murray River. Next morning we crossed into NSW by the free ferry service at Morgan.

Next lunch stop is at Wentworth where the Darling river flows into the Murray River, Australia's two biggest rivers.

A couple of well fed locals.

Paddle steamer Ruby  at Wentworth being slowly rebuilt.

Driving through Port Augusta and turning due east we make for a small town in the southern Flinders Ranges called Willmington. We stayed overnight at a lovely bush caravan park where we  able to have fire that night.
Some local pics mostly taken from a local lookout.

Heading north east from Cowell, next stop Whyalla, noted for steel works and ship building. As expected a large busy city.
On display outside the maritime museum is the first ship built at Whyalla called in fact the Whyalla, we had an interesting guided tour of her.

Guess which tin arse won $250 on the pokies at Cowell pub?

Like the cat that swallowed the canary.

Heading north now to Cowell on the east coast of the Eyre Peninsula, passing through Tumby Bay and Port Neil.

Some pics  as we passed through.

For the boating enthusiast, some pics from the Port Lincoln Maritime Museum.

 Caravan park at Port Lincoln.

Moving across to Port Lincoln a much bigger town than we have visited for a while, yet another fisherman's paradise.
