Pictures of the original Mt Isa Hospital, from pre ww2 to the 70's.
During the war there was concern for the vulnerability of this facility from Japanese bomber aircraft, as they had bombed as far south as Katherine. Mt Isa would have been a prime target. So with the help of the mining company the locals dug out an underground hospital, which is now open for viewing.
I have a fairly long video of the underground hospital, but it doesn't want to upload from here for whatever reason. I will punish you later with it.
