Leaving Winton behind our next stop is going to McKinley, home of the Walkabout Creek pub made famous by the movie Crocodile Dundee.
Scenery becoming more interesting.
Walkabout Creek Pub.
Vehicles from the movie.
On the road again to Cloncurry.
Vaguely disapointed by Croc pub, not quite what I hoped, I think Silverton pub where Mad Max was filmed to be better.
Arrived at Cloncurry and settled into Wal's camp caravan park,OK but a bit basic in toilet department not much privacy.
Had a look around Cloncurry with it's opal shops and I really like the old Queensland pubs. $5 a schooner.
.
Monday 8th June
Left
Cloncurry after a reasonable night. Headed for Mt Isa
Only
114 kms, so an easy day.
Complete
change of scenery from Cloncurry to Mt Isa as it is hilly, rocky with
plenty of trees, much more interesting. Quickly found a nice caravan
park and settled in for a couple of days.
Started doing the touristy things, first off driving 13 kms out of town to Moondarra Lake.
This is a very pretty place. The lake is very large covering about 400 square Kms. It is of course the town's water supply, surprising to see power boats allowed there.
Arriving back in town, we drove up to lookout overlooking Mt Isa.
