Then on to Newman, passing many oncoming ore carrying road trains.
Passing many mine sites, most of the big mining company names are here in the Pilbara.
Setting up in the Newman caravan park.
Departing Newman 2 steel cutout figures farewell us.
Lot of driving with not much to see on the way down to Meekatharra.
Stopping for fuel at a roadhouse on the way we were surprised to bump into a group of veterans we had met at Meentheena travelling in a mini bus to Perth. They said they were going to stay the night a another veteran's retreat at Meekatharra, so we decided to head there as well.
Some shots around Meeka.
Had a few drinks and laughs with the blokes from Meentheena in the mess that night good fun for all.
This morning we turned east across the Goldfields Highway, Mostly gravel but in very good condition. Refueled at Wiluna another sad little town.
More steel art at Wiluna, must be fun to have a laser cutter.
Turned south again and pulled up at Leinster a mining company town set up for the mine workers. Very well laid out town and a very nice caravan park at $20 per night for a powered site. Pics to follow when I take them tomorrow. After which a short hop to Leonora.
